AFRIKAANSE OPSOMMING: Rachmaninoff word in die besonder waardeer vir sy bydrae op die gebied van klaviermusiek, waarvan die Prelude in c-kruis, op. 3 die Tweede en Derde Klavierkonsert, en die Variasies op 'n Tema van Paganini seker die bekendste is. DIt is ook alom bekend dat hy 'n formidabele pianis en dirigent was. Hy het dikwels na 1917, toe hy groot opgang as rondreisende virtuoos gemaak het, gekla dat hy te min tyd het om te komponeer.
