ENGLISH ABSTRACT: The international model define 'stress' as a result of a unique interaction between the individual and his environment. The identifying of the demands - that is characteristically of every occupation - makes the definition specific, when defining occupational stress in terms of the interactional model. The focus of this descriptive study is the registrar in the training hospital. An anonymous quesücanaire was used in order to describe the registrars, attached to Tygerberg Hospital, as a group in terms of certain occupational stressors and working conditions. Aspects such as: demographic data, previous experience, working conditions and finance, were covered by the questionnarre. The following factors were emphasised under working conditions: supervisic.l, working hours, type of work, prospects and emigration. The questionnaire was used in order to identify and discuss occupational stress. AFRIKAANSE OPSOMMING: Stres, gesien interme van die interaksionele model, is die gevolg van 'n unieke interaksie tussen die individu en sy omgewing. Wanneer beroepstres in terme van die interaksionele model gedefinieer word, is dit di identifisering van die eise vanuit die omgewing (wat eiesoortig is aan elke beroep), wat die definisie sepsifiek maak. In hierdie beskrywende studie word gefocus op die kliniese assistent in die opleidingshospitaal. Daar is gebruik gemaak van 'n anonieme vraelys om die kliniese assistent, verbonde aan Tygerberg Hospitaal, as 'D groep te beskryf in terme van beroepstressors en werksomstandighede. Die volgende aspekte is deur die vraelys gedek: demografiese inligting, vorige ervaring, werksomstandighede en finansies. Wat werksomstandighede betref, is daar die volgende faktore ondersoek: supervisie, werksure, werkstipe, vooruitsigte en emigrasie. Beroepstressors is mec behulp van die vraelys geidentifiseer.
