description ENGLISH ABSTRACT: Technological progress ensures the feasibility of distance music education. The physical absence of the educator raises unique challenges that require that the teaching methodology must be adapted. This thesis investigates the specific methodology changes that must be made in online flute tuition. A literature study was used to create a conceptual framework, which was consequently implemented in an iterative action research process. The unique contribution of this thesis is that it proposes a framework to flute educators for the presentation of online flute lessons.

AFRIKAANSE OPSOMMING: Tegnologiese vooruitgang maak afstandsonderrig in musiek prakties haalbaar. Die fisiese afwesigheid van die opvoeder bring egter unieke uitdagings na vore, wat verg dat die onderwysmetodologieë aangepas moet word. Hierdie tesis ondersoek spesifiek hoe die onderwysbenadering aangepas moet word vir aanlyn fluitonderrig. 'n Literatuurstudie is gebruik om 'n konsepsuele raamwerk saam te stel, wat vervolgens geïmplementeer is deur 'n iteratiewe aksienavorsingsproses. Die unieke bydrae van hierdie tesis is dat dit 'n raamwerk aan fluitopvoeders bied vir die aanbieding van aanlyn fluitlesse.
